The King of the dancehall Beenie Man launched his long-awaited seventeenth studio album, titled Simma on Monday night at DiLot in Kingston.
It was a red carpet affair at DiLot, with brand new 2024 electronic BMW whips to welcome guests at the launch. For Beenieman it meant “the King is here”.

The ‘Girls Dem Sugar’ celebrates his 50th birthday on August 22, however, the album Simma has no relation to his 1998 hit single “Who Am I (Sim Simma)”, but it is to showcase his versatility as an artiste.
Beenieman said; “Where I have explored new genres while keeping the music authentic. Simma signifies that I am still here and doing what I love best, which is music.”
Beenie Man explained that he has been working on this album for the last 3 years and should have been released some time ago but now is the right time.
‘Simma‘ is a diverse offering of songs with a fusion of dancehall, reggae, afrobeats, and drill (which is a subgenre of hip-hop music).
This new album features a slew of collaborations with local and international stars such as; Busy Signal, Patoranking, Giggs, Ms Banks, Mya, HoodCelebrityy, Dexta Daps, Shenseea, Bunji Garlin, Shaggy, Popcaan, Dre Island, Morgan Heritage, Sean Paul, Charly Black, Anthony Red Rose, Louie Culture, Stonebwoy, and Backroad Gee.

Additionally, top producers, Frankie Music Productions, Jerome Wright, Andre “Suku” Gray, Dutty Rock Productions, Walshy Fire, Rohan Smith, MD Music Group, Richie D, Jeremy Harding, Tony Kelly, Money Matters Entertainment, and internationally acclaimed Teddy Riley and The FaNaTiX all worked on Simma.
The album is produced by MD Music Group and is the follow-up to his 2016 album, ‘Unstoppable’.

From the décor, to the guests (top-list celebrities, producers, influencers and media personalities) and the performances; this was arguably one of the best album launches to date.
‘Simma‘ is set for official release on August 31.
