R&B singer Kelly Rowland was in a no-nonsense mood at the American Music Awards (AMAs) after she shut down fans who booed at Chris Brown’s win while accepting the award on his behalf.
Chris Brown who was named best male R&B artiste was absent from the awards which presenter Kelly Rowland accepted on his behalf.
Rowland, while accepting the award paused her acceptance statement on brown’s behalf to address some fans who seemingly booed at the Brown win shortly after the announcement.
“Excuse me…chill out!” she sternly said while looking in the direction of the heckling audience members before delivering an impromptu shout out of support to the “Under the influence” hitmaker.
Brown was slated to perform a Michael Jackson tribute at the event however, the plug was pulled on the performance at the last minute by organizers.
Two days before Sunday night’s event the “Loyal” hitmaker shared his disappointment in an Instagram post about the cancelation –“U serious,” he wrote before adding in the caption;
“WOULDVE been the ama performance but they cancelled me for reasons unknown. 🤷🏽♂️”
Some fans online were split about the decision as they referred to his assault charge following his infamous dispute with then girlfriend Rihanna.
The AMA’s have yet to publicly comment on the reason for the abrupt canceling of brown’s performance.
