Rocky hit with two counts of assault in connection with 2021 shooting

American rap star A$AP Rocky, was officially charged this week with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in connection with a shooting that occurred in Hollywood Hills in November of 2021.

Rocky real name Rakim Mayers, was initially arrested in April upon arrival at the LAX airport retuning from vacation in Barbados. He was however later released on bond within hours of his detention in relation to this case.

The Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón shared on Monday that; Mayers is facing allegations of personally using a firearm during this altercation with a former friend.

It’s alleged that on November 6, 2021, Mayers pointed a semiautomatic handgun at the victim during a confrontation in the upscale Hollywood area. It’s further alleged that shots were later fired in the direction of the victim is said reported to have sustained as result of the altercation.

According to reports; local law enforcement confirmed that the victim suffered a minor injury from the shooting.

“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” Rocky’s Attorney Alan Jackson shared in a brief but vague response to the matter.

In a statement from the prosecution Gascón said; “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”  The DMB rapper is said to make an appearance in court on Wednesday.
