The Health Ministry has announced that the vanilla flavored Haagen Dazs with best before dates of July 4, 2022, to July 21,2023 are being recalled after manufacturers revealed that the batch was contaminated.
Haagen Dazs proprietors have indicated that traces of ethylene oxide, a pesticide for controlling post-harvest insects, mold and pathogens in food were detected in the flavoring.
The Food and Drug Administration cautioned however that while there is no immediate risk to the consumption of food with traces of ethylene oxide, long term exposure can lead to health problems.
This includes irritation to the respiratory passage and nervous system as well acute irritation to the eyes and skin.
As such, the Health Ministry has urged members of the public to desist from purchasing and consuming Vanilla flavored Haagen Dazs ice-cream at this time.
