The limelight continues to shine on Shane O’s ‘Dark Room’ after international super producer DJ Khaled showed support for the track.
The deeply emotive song which is a reflective narration of personal struggles both social and emotionally, has now crossed the 2 million stream threshold amassing over 500,000 streams within the last seven days following the highlight.
Khaled who came to the island recently to do some production for his untitled album, has shown a genuine connection to the track since hearing it and has encouraged his fans to stream the dancehall act.
Those instructions were clearly followed as Shane O, who celebrated ‘Dark room’ crossing 1 million views in May, has not only seen the track’s popularity increase but also his social following.
The ‘Keep yuh Hail’ deejay’s Instagram and YouTube account have also inflated by new followers and looks set to continue their rise with the continued support by the ‘We The Best Music’ boss.
Shane O who had his break in 2005 with ‘Thunder roll’ while attending Kingston Technical High School, has had several notable tracks intermittently over the past 10 years, including Hold on, Partner Draw, and Millennium Gyalis featuring Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm.
He has been credited as a go-to song writer for several notable dancehall acts.
Khaled is known for breaking hits as well as connecting with other hitmakers and with the continued support of the track, Shane O might be another one to appear on the international radar.
Given the increasingly overwhelming attention both local and internationally, ‘Dark room’ may very well be his brightest moment.
