While British Pop Mega Star Dua Lipa is ‘Levitating’ on the success of her career over the past year, a copyright lawsuit by Reggae band Artikal sound system is bringing her back down to earth.

According to reports, the Florida based Artikal sound claims that the chart-topping smash ‘levitating’ was a direct take from their 2017 single ‘Live your life’

On listening to both songs there is an obvious and almost direct similarity in beat pattern and song composition namely the hook of Dua Lipa’s levitating and Artikal’s live your life

An excerpt from Live your life:

“All day, all night, party till the sunrise ,now don’t stop, till you have lived your life for real”

While the lyrics from Dua’s version;

“I got you.., moonlight, you’re my……. sunlight all night, I need you all night, come on dance with me I’m levitating..”

The lawsuit also reportedly names record label Warner Records as a defendant in the matter. Artikal is said to be asking for profits gained from the success of the song in addition to damages.

The singer was also hit with a second lawsuit by songwriters L Russell Brown and Sandy Lizner for allegedly duplicating their 1979 hit: ‘Wiggle and Jiggle all night’ in the opening part of her song.

Dua’s team has yet to officially comment on the case.
