Rap star and entertainment mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has reportedly partnered with streaming giant Netflix to produce a documentary series on Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Netflix confirmed the deal, which is said to give detailed insight into allegations faced by the music mogul, including sex trafficking and racketeering, along with multiple allegations of sexual assault and violent abusive behaviour, as per Deadline.
The news comes months following reports that 50 cent “won the bidding rights” to the project.
Netflix confirmed it commissioned the project earlier this year; as such, production is ongoing, with a series premiere date to be determined.
Noted director Alexandra Stapleton has been tasked with the creative execution of the series via her House of Nonfiction production company, with Jackson executive producing the project via his G-Unit Film & Television.
“This is a story with significant human impact,” Stapleton and Jackson shared in a joint statement.
“It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far. We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives.
The statement continued, “While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’s story is not the full story of Hip Hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”
Jackson also used the moment to troll diddy with an image of a bottle of baby oil captioned “Coming Soon Lol”
Combs is being held without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
