In what could be likened to a David and Goliath scenario, a 13-year-old Michigan boy reportedly used a slingshot to thwart the attempted kidnapping of his 8-year-old sister outside of their home in Alpena Township recently.

According to reports, Owen Burns,13, showed quick thinking and resourcefulness despite “freaking out” to defend his sibling from being taken by an assailant who is said to be 17 years old.

The teen recalled hearing a scream while playing video games but thought his sister was just “messing around” with friends before being alarmed by a second scream.

“So I looked out the window and saw her being abducted by a person and I’m like freaking out,” Owen said speaking to local media.

“So I grab my slingshot and open the window and I grab two things — a marble and a gravel rock or something,” he added.

According to the Police, the would-be kidnapper was struck in the head and chest by the projectiles which created an opening for his young sister to break free and run to safety.

“I was just lucky. He’s just a big target because he’s not like a Pepsi can,” Owen said.
