An Indian woman reportedly filed for divorce from her husband 40 days after their nuptials following claims that he only showers twice per week.

According to reports, the unnamed woman from the town of Agra, in India’s Uttar Pradesh state, opted to terminate her marriage following a failed intervention from the local family counselling centre about her husband’s poor personal hygiene.

The woman’s complaint claims that her soon-to-be ex-husband rarely ever bathed wore dirty clothes, and suffered from bad breath.

It’s further reported that the situation persisted to the degree that intimacy became a repulsive act between the two, compelling her decision to break the union after 40 days.

According to reports, the husband, Rajash, admitted to his infrequent showers and poor hygiene practices when quizzed by the family centre.

He noted that he cleansed by sprinkling his body with Gangajal (holy water from the river Ganges) once a week.

The scorned wife, who had since vacated their marital home to live with her parents, said that Rajash had bathed “6 times in the last 40 days, but only because she insisted.

Hearing about her decision to divorce him, the husband promised to improve his hygiene, even bathing daily, but the woman’s family noted that she was unwilling to reconcile with him.
