Chelsea midfielder Omari Hutchinson and Newcastle prospect Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards have both been named into the Reggae Boyz squads for their upcoming local friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago in Jamaica on March 11 and 14.
The talented teens were listed among the 26-man squad put together by head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson, which was released on Tuesday morning.
The squad inclusion for Richards marks a steady positive progression into the professional ranks for the 17-year-old.
The precocious talent who’s currently on trial with English Premier League club Newcastle United received his first call-up in February and could make his national senior team debut during the fixtures.
Hutchinson, 18, made his premier league debut for Chelsea this season and will be seeking to add to his National Caps having previously featured for the Boyz during a friendly against Catalonia last year.
Former schoolboy standouts Jourdain Fletcher and Jovaugn Topey, are also among the younger players selected for the fixtures, which also include veteran defender Adrian Mariappa.
Since the games don’t fall on official FIFA dates several regular starters have remained with their respective clubs.
The fixture, however, will provide valuable exposure for fringe players trying to break into the final squad ahead of their CONCACAF Gold Cup and Nations League tournaments later this year.
