A 29-year-old man accused of sexually molesting his 5-year-old sister and his 2-year-old niece has been captured by the Police in Whithorn District, Westmoreland.

The accused, Sheldon Brown, was captured during a police operation last evening.

Reports indicated that the assault occurred at their home in Negril last Wednesday.

In addition, the mother of the five-year-old girl had indicated that she discovered that something was wrong while washing her daughter’s underwear.

Subsequently, both children were taken to hospital where it was discovered that they were victims of sexual assault.

Since the ordeal, Children’s Advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison says her office has intervened in the situation in Negril.

Gordon-Harrison posited that the necessary support is being provided to the victims as well as other family members.

She also expressed outrage in the incident noting that it is a clear indication of the many harms that affects the nation’s children.

“I can confirm that the member of parliament reached out to the office of the Children’s’ Advocate. We have been in touch with the grandmother, and we are making contact in other state agencies that have an interest in the matter. We are seeing how best we can support these children who are at the heart of the matter ” Gordon-Harrison outlined.

“We are really very saddened by this situation, and it is reminiscent of one case too many, a two-year-old and a five-year-old are very destroyed because of the unfortunate turn of events that they were exposed to ” she added.
