On the heels of a record-breaking weekend for R&B/Pop star Weeknd, the singer continues to etch his name in the history books after passing Michael Jackson’s record of having the highest-grossing tour for a black artiste.

According to reports, Weeknd’s current “After Hours Till Dawn” tour has earned over $350 million in revenue, passing Jackson’s previous touring record gross of $311 million (after adjusting for inflation) which was amassed during his 1987 Bad tour.

The Toronto native who had previously noted the ‘Thriller ‘hitmaker as one of his inspirations, indirectly acknowledged the new record by posting a video of himself covering Jackson’s 1988 song “Dirty Diana” at his concert in Belgium.

In a 2016 interview with the Los Angeles Times, the ‘Star Boy’ expressed nothing but praise for the ‘King of pop” noting that Jackson’s influence will undoubtedly be heard in his music. “Michael, man, that guy was the star. He invented the star.”

“There will never be another Michael. I want to make it very clear that I’m not trying to be Michael. He’s everything to me, so you’re going to hear it in my music.”

Last week the ‘Earned It’ hitmaker broke London Stadium’s attendance record after pulling 160,000 patrons over two nights during his stop in the English City.
