It has been predominantly a celebratory reaction online following the news of the impending freedom of Dancehall star Vybz Kartel.

Kartel and his co-accused Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell and Andre St John have all been serving time in connection to the murder of the Clive “lizard” Williams.

It was also a feeling of jubilance by fans, who gathered outside the courthouse Downtown as news gradually filtered on the ruling.

The ruling comes months after his 2014 conviction was “quashed” by the Privy Council and concludes a decade-long fight for freedom by the entertainer and his co-accused, who were all serving lengthy sentences.

Kartel himself was quick to deliver a reaction to news of his release via Twitter.
