More than 300 students have benefitted from the new WeCare and Financial Assistance Programmes spearheaded by Devaraine Rowe, 1st Vice President in charge of Services and Special Projects at The University of the West Indies.

Students were given food packages and other aids. The packages were delivered by members of the Guild Council and volunteers from guild committees to students living on halls of residence as well as students across the island.

With help from the Office of Student Services and Development, the team travelled to several post offices across four parishes where packages were dropped off for students to collect.

The Financial Assistance Programme commonly referred to as ‘Fresh Cash’ saw students receiving tuition grants, grocery vouchers, book donations, transportation assistance and this year also saw the addition of credit assistance.
