“Toast to di culture”: Cooyah’s relaunch anniversary celebrates the Jamaican experience

It was a celebration of an iconic brand, as Cooyah’s relaunch anniversary was culture-based fashion and lifestyle at its highest at Kaya Herb House on Saturday.

Attendees were treated to the best of everything in artistic expression and entertainment as Cooyah celebrated year two of its relaunch in Jamaica.

Star power

Several noted personalities from various industries were among attendees at the event, showing the allure and love for the brand, spanning across social and generational divides.

Asafa Powell and his wife, Alyshia Miller-Powell, Sharon Burke, iconic dancehall star Patra and international model Tyson Beckford were among the celebrities on hand to celebrate Cooyah’s continued expansion as an iconic brand, representing the best of Jamaica.

Cooyah’s founder Mr Homer Bair spoke about what the brand represents to the culture.

He also noted that while “Cooyah’s” core identity of authentic Jamaican roots and culture remains at the heart of its look, it adapts and grows with the times, allowing its cultural appeal to remain as compelling.

In addition to underscoring a reconnection with the local market, the event also aimed to introduce the brand to younger audiences at both fashion and culturally significant levels, Mr Bair added.

Fashion show

The designs on show at the event certainly hit the target among a delighted audience, who were treated to a first-hand view of the latest designs from the brand.

Select pieces were modelled by noted Actor/Poet Sheldon Shepherd and Politician Dr Andre Haughton.

Unruly Suprise

The surprises kept coming at the anniversary event as Popcaan’s “Unruly” brand also unveiled new pieces from the line, which was topped off by a guest performance from NateBadz, who thrilled with his hit single Warrior featuring his brother Popcaan.

The event was not just a celebration of an iconic brand. It was also a toast to the culture in every sense as “Cooyah” continues to show the appeal and creative allure of the Jamaican experience through fashion.
