Reigning women’s Olympic Double Sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is set to open her season in the 100m after being confirmed for the Prefontaine Classic on Saturday.
Thompson-Herah’s participation was announced on the event’s social media page on Wednesday.
The Jamaican is the first and only major name confirmed for the event thus far.
Track fans have welcomed the news of Elaine’s long-awaited season debut on the ultra-fast track in Eugene.

400m hurdles runners Roshawn Clarke, Jaheel Hyde and Malik James-King are the other Jamaicans confirmed for the meet thus far.
