Phoenix All-Stars Academy president, Craig Butler, has been issued with a summons to appear before the court next month, where he is expected to answer to charges of physical assault in relation to an incident involving his son, national under-23 player Kyle Butler.
The charges stem from a reported altercation between the player and his father, which took place during a training session held by the club two weeks ago. The younger Butler has alleged that he suffered physical injuries after being attacked by his father when he attempted to leave the team’s training session after a disagreement.
The incident came to light after Kyle took to social media to display photos of injuries that included a cut lip and arm.
At the time, the player had insisted he was fed up of taking abuse from an unknown assailant, which was later revealed to be his father. The senior Butler has profusely denied both the allegations of hurting his son during the aforementioned incident or any previous instances of abuse. Both men have now retained attorneys. Craig’s team has, however, insisted that they are hopeful that the issue will be resolved before the hearing date, which has been set for Halfway Tree Courthouse early in the New Year.
