A Texas woman was on Thursday sentenced to 55 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2019 murder of her best friend Heidi Broussard.

The accused, Magen Fieramusca, 37, was initially charged with capital murder with the likelihood of her serving a life sentence without being eligible for parole.

The sentence was however lessened on Thursday after the accused waived her right to an appeal and pleaded guilty. As such, the accused will be eligible for parole after serving at least 55 years in prison and will also receive credit for the three years she served prior to her plea.

According to reports, the mother of two was reported missing by her fiancé two days after she had given birth to her Margot on December 12, 2019.

After the report was filed, a search party was formed to locate the missing woman. Three days after an intense and publicized search, investigators stumbled upon Broussard’s body stuffed in a duffel bag in the trunk of her car which was parked in the driveway.

An autopsy later revealed that the victim died as a result of being strangled by a dog’s leash.

The victim’s infant was also retrieved and returned to her father.

Fieramusca was subsequently arrested and charged with capital murder, tampering with a corpse, and kidnapping.
