The Sunshine Girls continued their dominance at the 2023 Netball World Cup, as they dismissed Trinidad and Tobago 89-26 to maintain their perfect record in South Africa on Wednesday.
It was an incredible display by the Girls, who claimed all four quarters to verify their status as championship contenders against their Caribbean rivals.
The number four ranked Jamaicans strut their dominance early as they raced to a 43-10 halftime lead following 20-6 and 24-4 scores in the first two quarters.
The gap in quality between the two teams became further apparent in the second half, as Jamaica extended their advantage in the third quarter with a 25-9 score before closing out the victory with a strong 20-7 final quarter performance.
Romelda Aiken George topped the scoring with 38 goals, while Shanice Beckford supported with 20. Captain Jhaniele Fowler also contributed
with 16 goals.
Jamaica is one of four teams to remain unbeaten in the tournament thus far. The result means Jamaica has virtually secured a spot in the semi-finals.
They’ll next be in action on Thursday when they face New Zealand in their final group-stage fixtures.
