Social media was in a split in reacting to the delay of Kanye West’s highly anticipated Donda 2, which was set for Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

The project’s drop was hyped as the premier event for the week, however, many were left bewildered in the absence of the album.

Last week, Ye announced that the album, which is the sequel to his Grammy-nominated DONDA, would be exclusively available on his own streaming device stem player.

However, many who bought the device in hopes of hearing the follow-up to Kanye’s chaotic genius were left disappointed as they patiently waited for access to the project which didn’t happen.

Some persons expressed patience saying: “Kanye West’s real fans know that #DONDA2 won’t drop at midnight”.

“He’s probably still mixing track 2 rn,“ another said, with a third replying: “It’ll drop because we will be mixing it on the STEMPLAYER”.

Others were more critical of the ardent fans who shelled out over US$200 for the device in hopes of boasting the exclusivity of the album.

“No no no the mixing process hasn’t even started he’s still working on song 3 while Mike Dean is anxiously waiting for Ye to send him track 1. But every time Mike asks Ye for the stems to mix Ye just goes “bro that song is still missing drums and that Joe Rogan sample”,” one user said.

“Just got word that Kanye accidentally deleted Donda 2 while trying to export the album,” another user added.

As the wait continued for any signs of new music from the ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ singer, Twitter exploded with memes, about Ye trolling the internet to generate sales for his Stem Player.

Last week, Yeezy chided Major Music platforms for taking advantage of the artiste regarding the vastly disproportional distribution of payout from digital sales, while announcing the exclusive release.

DONDA 2, Kanye’s 11th studio release, which is executively produced by fellow rapper Future, had generated mass interest since the release of the controversial first track “EASY” featuring the Game.

The track, which takes aim at estranged wife Kim Kardashian and her new flame Pete Davidson, is seemingly a sneak preview of the album’s tone which is in stark contrast to its predecessor gospel-inspired DONDA.
