Female Gymnastics superstar Simone Biles officially became the most decorated Olympic gymnast in US history after helping Team USA return atop the podium to claim a record eighth medal at the games.
Biles battled through a leg cramp during qualifying on Monday and put on a solid all-round performance with teammates, Sunisa Lee, Jade Cary and Jordan Chiles to secure the win.

The gold medal is Biles’ fifth and eighth medal overall, which saw her overtake the legendary Shannon Miller as the most decorated US Olympian in the sport.
The feat also completes a redemption journey for the Americans who had settled for silver at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
