Sean Paul responds to possible Shaggy verzuz challenge

“So you want to see me go at Shaggy then?” – Sean Paul mused while speaking about a him participating in  verzuz challenge on the popular radio show the Breakfast club.

The internationally acclaimed Deejay poured cold water on him going up against anyone in Dancehall including his fellow international juggernaut Shaggy, a least right now.

Dutty Paul explained that while many fans would easily put both artiste together as the only two who could really battle based on the caliber of success and catalogue, he’s really focused on unity and pushing more collaborations.

“ I mean he’s my big bro, he’s one of my good friends in the business, him and Jr. Gong, I speak to both of them at different times a lot about lil things that happening or about what we love to see change.”

Sean Paul added that he[Shaggy] mentioned the idea to him when it first started which he said created a buzz around the possibility of a Sean/Shaggy clash.

“He called me up when it first started going on, like yow what yah say that when people started to speculate go they going at it”

The hosts continued to expressed excitement of possible clash and subtly trying to egg on an agreement from the ‘Dutty Rock’ boss for clash.

refencing the immensely successful Beenie Man vs Bounty Killer clash that had the world watching during the pandemic suggesting that world wants more Dancehall kingpins do a challenge.

However, the ‘No lie’ singer firmly held his ground that it’s not at the forefront of his mind.

“To me is like putting Mike Tyson with his Boss…Muhammed Ali its different time frames it’s different.”

Despite them [ hosts] talking up the idea that both artistes have “Timeless” songs that could still challenge each other in its tune for tune format Sean was resolute stating

Despite him having more songs in the on the billboard, Shaggy has sold more units and albums than him overall, so it would an un balanced match in a sense. while not a completely writing it off for now its off. The Get busy’ singer asserted.

Sean Paul is currently in promotion mode for his eighth studio album ‘Scorcha’ which is set to be released in May.

Both Shaggy and Sean Paul recently teamed up on Spice’s smash hit ‘Go down deh’ which was the lead single for her album ’10’ that was nominated for a Grammy alongside his ‘Live n Living’ project.
