After a six-year wait for original music, Rihanna’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever-inspired single “Lift Me Up” also marked her return to the Billboards, as the emotional tributary ballad debuted at number two on the Billboard hot 100 chart.

Lift Me Up, which was released on October 28 along with an accompanying video on her Vevo channel, opened its entry onto the chart only behind County Pop megastar Taylor Swift with her Anti-Hero single.

The successful opening of the record coincides with the release of Riri’s second release from the Black Panther sequel titled “Born Again”.

The track, which was released on midnight Friday, is also an emotionally provocative ballad as it stays in the same vain as its predecessor Lift Me Up, however, with a slightly accented battle cry which keeps true to the film’s theme of afro-centric strength, love, reflection and tribute via honor.

The track’s visualizer has so far amassed over 286,000 streams in its first 24 hours of release while the video for Lift Me Up racked up over 34,000,000 streams on her channel alone and currently remains the 21 most trending song on the island.

Those figures are expected to expand as moviegoers turn out to watch the highly anticipated Marvel film which was officially released in theaters on Thursday, November 10.
