The highly anticipated rematch between sprint stars Kishane Thompson and Noah Lyles appears to be reserved for the World Championships, following the Jamaican’s reported withdrawal from upcoming Diamond League meets, including their mega rematch in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The two were billed as the main headliners for the 100m set for Wednesday (August 20).

According to reports, Thompson’s teams decided to pull out of the upcoming meeting after the sprinter complained about feeling some discomfort in his shin following a comfortable victory over Lyles in the 100m at the Silesia Diamond League on Saturday.

That encounter was the first time both had raced each other since the nail-biting Olympic finals in Paris, which saw Lyles clip Thompson for Gold by 0.500th of a second in a photo finish.

Both will again enter the Championships as the top contenders vying for Gold.
