The Reggae Girlz will be seeking to rebound in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Qualifiers when they tackle Guatemala at the National Stadium on Sunday.
The Girlz, who was clipped 2-1 by Panama in their opening Group B fixture, will be hoping that playing on home soil can inspire a victorious turnaround.
Victory for the team would also ease the pressure off the embattled Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), which has been at odds with the history-making World Cup squad over issues such as “constant mistreatment” and unpaid monies.
The impasse resulted in an alternative team lineup for the qualifiers following the regular starters’ withdrawal of availability for the games in protest. The federation subsequently suspended the players from selection pending a resolution.
kick-off time is set for 5:00 p.m.
Jamaica is currently at the foot of the three-team table after one game, while Panama leads the group with six points from three played, followed by second-placed Guatemala with three points from their two games.
