The possibility of Raheem Sterling and Cristiano Ronaldo linking up in a football club is now a credible thought after English Premier League team Chelsea has reportedly extended interest in the Manchester United forward.

The ‘Blues’ who are set to be close to signing Sterling after being heavily linked to the England international for the past month, have also become front runners for the signature of Ronaldo following his announced intention to leave Old Trafford.

Both players who are running into the final year of their respective contracts have been targeted by Thomas Tuchel as he looks to add some serious potency to a Chelsea team who has been hot and cold last season.

Sterling who has been a Chelsea target for a while is said to be at an advanced stage of a £ 50 million pound transfer from Manchester City.

Given that a Neymar move may no longer be in play after new PSG club manager Christophe Galtier, indicated his intentions to keep him and Raphina’s transfer from Leeds developed a sudden complication, Ronaldo’s request to leave Man. U seems almost like perfect timing.

While United has maintained that the Portugal captain is not for sale, Ronaldo has yet to start pre-season with the team and has maintained his reluctance to continue with his with the club.

Despite no preferred club expressed by the player, several other teams across Europe have been linked to the talismanic figure including a possible reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho at AS Roma in Italy.

However, the London Club is one of a hand full of teams that are reportedly financially able to comfortably support his current wage demands.

It, however, remains a wait-and-see if Ronaldo will be allowed to leave or be forced to stay out the remainder of his contract at United. Bayern Munich is also said to be another club with which the forward has been connected in recent times.
