Multi-platinum-selling Jamaican recording artiste OMI dropped a new single a week ago. Party Like Its Your Birthday features Danish-Finnish electro pop virtual band Studio Killers.
Released by Ultra Music, Party Like its Your Birthday is reportedly one of the singles from OMI’s forthcoming album of Sony Music.
Described as a feel-good disco nugget with relatable lyrics, Party Like Its Your Birthday could be that song to jump-start another successful stint for the Clarendon-born OMI.
OMI achieved international acclaim with the smash hit Cheerleader which it was remixed by German DJ Felix Jaehn.
Originally recorded in 2012 and produced by Clifton ‘Specialist’ Dillon, Cheerleader was a creeper hit until it descended upon European charts in 2014. In 2015, it topped more than 23 charts around the world including the United Kingdom Top 100 and the Billboard Hot 100.
Cheerleader has been certified platinum Australia, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, The Netherlands and New Zealand. It has diamond certifications in France and Germany. Its other achievements include a 3 x platinum certification in the United States and 2.4 million in the United Kingdom.
Last May, Cheerleader earned the distinction of 1 billion streams on Spotify.
OMI’s debut album Me 4 U has been certified gold in the United States for sales of more than 500,000 copies. Another of its singles, Hula Hoop was certified gold in Australia and Canada.
In 2019, OMI teamed with Italian acts Takagi + Ketra and Giusy on the two times platinum-certified single Jambo.
