Streaming giant Netflix is delving into the full “entertainment and chill” experience by branching into snacks following the announcement of its Popcorn line.
The streamer has teamed up with popcorn company Popcorn Indiana to produce the traditional movie snacks, Variety reports.
The new popcorn line currently offers two flavours- “Cult Classic Cheddar Kettle” and “Swoonworthy Cinnamon Kettle.”
A “movie night and popcorn go together like a hot dog and a bun, ice cream and sprinkles, or a beach day and a lounge chair,” the streamer said in announcing the popcorn line. “That’s why Netflix and Popcorn Indiana have teamed up to debut Now Popping, a new ready-to-eat popcorn line available to snack on now.”
It’s understood that Netflix doesn’t necessarily expect a sudden boom in cash flow by selling snacks. However, the move is part of expanding its brand presence by getting in front of shoppers at thousands of retail outlets.
