A 56-year-old motor vehicle inspector was slapped with charges following a fatal stabbing of Anton Stephens on April 30 on Charles Street in Kingston.
The accused Clive Lawrence was charged on Tuesday with murder and wounding with intent after a question-and-answer interview.
Reports indicate that on the day in question at around 8:10 p.m. Lawrence and a woman, who is a relative of Stephens, were involved in a dispute while travelling in a Toyota Probox motor car.
It is understood that the pair arrived at Charles Street where the woman allegedly exited the vehicle and ran into the yard.
Following this, the accused reportedly chased her with a knife. Further reports also detailed that Stephens who was at the premises insisted that Lawrence leave the yard.
This notion however fell on deaf ears as Lawrence reportedly stabbed Stephens repeatedly. Another man who attempted to assist Stephens was also injured in the melee.
Following the incident, Lawrence made a daring escape in a Toyota Probox car and was on the run until Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
Lawrence later turned himself over to the police in the company of his attorney and was later charged.
