Reigning 100m World Champion Shelly Ann-Fraser-Pryce got her outdoor season off to a blistering start after clocking a World Leading 10.67 seconds to comfortably win the Women’s 100m at the Kep keino classic in Kenya on Saturday.

Fraser-Pryce running from lane 5 was a picture of superior form and focus as she, without much competition, controlled the race from start to finish to leave scorch marks on the Nairobi track.

The clocking was just .07 seconds outside of her personal record of 10.60 seconds set last year at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Her performance would have answered questions about the quality of time to expect with absence of major contenders such as Sha’Carri Ricardson who was billed as her main competitor.

The World Lead speaks for itself and proves that the Jamaican needs no external impetus to produce big performances

Mommy Rocket’s time demolishes the previous World leads of 10.87 and 10.89 seconds by American Cambrea Sturgis and fellow compatriot Elaine Thompson-Herah respectively.
