Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe reached career milestones during Paris Saint Germaine’s (PSG) 3-0 win over Marseille in the French Ligue 1 game on Sunday.

Messi officially reached his 700th career goal at the club goal after scoring PSG’s second goal.

The World Cup winner doubled PSG’s lead in the 29th minute after 2023 cup finalist Mbappe opened proceedings in minute 25.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to make a strong claim for a record-extending eight trophy as he’s now only the second player behind Cristiano Ronaldo to score 700 goals at the club level.

Messi’s 29th goal since joining the French club adds to a record 672 goals in 778 games for Barcelona.

Despite the astounding achievement by the Argentine, the headlines had to be shared with the French golden boy Mbappe.

The former world champion became the club’s joint record goal score following his double against Marseille on Sunday.

The France international who scored both the opening and closing goals in minutes 25 and 55, equaled Edison Cavani’s record of 200 goals for the Ligue 1 juggernauts.

The double brings Mbappe’s tally for the season to 29 goals in 29 games thus far which furthers his case for a first Ballon d O’r trophy.

The 2023 World Cup Golden Boot winner, is set to spearhead the next generation of stars when Messi and Ronaldo hang up their boots.
