Jamaica’s Stephenie-Ann McPherson and Candice McLeod finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women’s 400-metre final at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games a short while ago.

Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo won in 48.36 seconds, ahead of Dominican Republic’s Marileidy Paulino (49.20s) and American veteran Allyson Felix (49.46s).

McPherson, the national champion running from lane six, had a good start and was up with the front runners but couldn’t accelerate when it mattered most and finished just outside the medals in 49.61s.

McLeod, running from lane four, also ran a fair race but was left too much to do in the straight, crossing the line fifth in 49.87s.
