Kylian Mbappe scored on his Real Madrid debut to lift his first trophy with the club following their 2-0 win against Atlanta in the Super Cup final at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland on Wednesday.
Mbappé, who made his long-awaited transfer from Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the summer scored Real’s second goal in minute 68 after drilling home a volley inside the 18-yard box following a delightful square from the left by Jude Bellingham.
His goal came almost 10 minutes after Federico Valverde opened scoring for the Spanish Champions in the 59th minute, after breaching a stubborn Atlanta defence.
Both goals were fruits of a period of menace by Madrid in the second stanza following a lacklustre first half.
Despite chances by both teams to add to the scoreline, it remained unchanged following the 90 minutes, as the referee’s final whistle confirmed Madrid’s win and Mbappe’s first trophy with his new club.
