Manchester United clinched a return to Champions League football after dismissing Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford.

United who needed a draw to seal qualification underlined their placing with a resounding victory at home to end any possible challenge by rivals Liverpool.

Goals from Casemiro and Anthony Martial in the 6th minute and first-half extra time opened up a two-goal lead for the Red Devils going into the halftime break.

That advantage was extended when Bruno Fernandes converted a 73rd-minute penalty to make it 3-0.

Marcus Rashford marked his return from injury with the solidifying goal five minutes later.

Chelsea’s Joao Felix, who was also returning from injury, netted an 89th-minute consolation goal to add some respectability to the score line.

The 90th minute however, confirmed United’s qualification to the League with an unassailable 71 points, as they replace Newcastle United in third (70 pts), as the result consigned Liverpool to the Europa League next season in fifth place.
