Manchester United will seek to secure a return to Champions League football when they host Chelsea in their penultimate game of the season in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Thursday.

Man U, who are fourth on the table with 69 points, need only a draw to clinch qualification for Europe’s premier tournament after fifth-place Liverpool dropped points on the weekend to be three points adrift, having played a game more.

A loss, will however, carry the battle to the final matchday between the two teams where goal difference could be the deciding factor.

12th-place Chelsea who have had a torrid season will be playing for pride on their trip to Manchester as they seek to move up a spot with a rare win under manager Frank Lampard.

Given the nine-point difference between themselves and 10th Fulham with two games remaining, the Blues cannot finish higher than 11th this season.

Both teams, who have been injury-hit over the past few match days are expected to have a strengthened squad coming into the fixture.

Man U striker Marcus Rashford, has returned to training after missing the past two games because of a leg issue and illness, while Chelsea forward, Joao Felix is said to have recovered from the ‘minor’ injury that forced him out last weekend’s game against Manchester City.
