2024 Olympic 100m men’s silver medalist Kishane Thompson, women’s Sprint sensation Tia Clayton and 110m hurdles Bronze medalist Rasheed Broadbell are the Jamaicans scheduled to for the Silesia Diamond League on August 25.
Fresh from securing silver at his maiden Olympic Games in Paris, Thompson kicks off his return to action in the men’s 100m. Compatriots- World Indoor 60m Bronze medalist Ackeem Blake and Rohan Watson will also line up in their track return since the Games.
The Jamaican trio, are set to face strong competition from the US pair of Fred Kerley and Christian Coleman, as well as Italy’s former Olympic champ- Lamont Marcell Jacobs.
It’s expected to be an equally exciting showdown in the women’s equivalent as rising sprint sensation Tia Clayton and fellow Jamaican Natasha Morrison will take their blocks against the impressive UK duo Dina Asher-Smith and Dayrll Nieta and Joseé Marie TA-LOU-Smith of the Ivory Coast.
The clash between Broadbell and rival Olympic Champion Grant Holloway should also add to the entertainment value when they face off in the men’s 110m hurdles. Jamaica’s Orlando Bennett will also seek to stake his claim for honours when he lines up for the race on Sunday.
The women’s hurdles are also set to deliver fireworks as World Champion Danielle Williams, and National Champion Ackera Nugent have both been confirmed along with Olympic Bronze medalist Cuba’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, and former World record holder Kendra Harrison are among the star-studded list.
In the longer distance Russell Clayton, Andrenette Knight, Shiann Salmon and Janieve Russell will take the track in the women’s 400m hurdles, with Jaheel Hyde and World U-20 record Holder Roshawn Clarke confirmed for the men’s event.
Long Jump silver medalists Shanieka Ricketts and Ackelia Smith will also be active when they line up for the women’s triple jump with Shot Put Bronze medalist Rajindra Campbell concluding Jamaica’s participation.
