A 35-year-old Jamaican citizen has been arrested and charged in the Cayman Islands in connection with the 945 pounds of ganja seized from a boat which capsized in Caymanian waters on Friday.

The accused was rescued from the ruins shortly after the search commenced and was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Following his release, the accused was formally charged with illegal landing and importation of ganja.

As it now stands, the recovered packages are now being forensically processed and will subsequently be scheduled for destruction.

Meanwhile, search efforts have been doubled to locate the other members who fell overboard.

So far, life vests and other items were recovered from mangroves in the vicinity of Uncle Bob Road, West Bay.

However, these have been determined not to be related to the missing men.
