Miami-based model and author Zoe Chin Loy is putting a creative twist on sharing the Jamaican culture through education with the recent release of her alphabet book, “J is Jamaica.”

The Book, which was officially released fittingly on Jamaica’s Independence Day, neatly pairs the educational development of early phonetic competencies with the vibrance of culturally significant aspects connected to the island.

Chin-Loy’s delightful spin on the educational concept vibrantly incorporates each letter with a Jamaican object, with an equally colourful, compelling pictorial and text description of the objects. This, of course, not only expands diversity of learning but also helps create familiarity and connection for children, both of Jamaican and non-Jamaican or Caribbean heritage, while providing opportunities for appreciation of the culture.

Speaking to the media, the mother of three noted the significance of a concept such as this in helping the preservation of the historical aspect, as well as the share of current daily attributes of the country.

The Jamaicanized Alphabet has been warmly received since its digital release, with several comments applauding the work, which was described as a labour of love by Chin Loy during a recap description of the content following its launch.

“J is for Jamaica,” which is available on Amazon, has been ranked among the top sellers for Latin and Caribbean culture on the platform.
