Jahshii has slammed the “older generation” of Dancehall, stating that they are not supportive enough of the younger artistes back in Jamaica.

The First Nation artiste sat down recently with TVJ’s Anthony Miller for an Entertainment Report interview that has since been making the rounds on social media. In response to a question asked by Miller, regarding the possibility of the current crop of young artistes reaching the level of Jamaica’s 90s superstars, Jahshii argued that his compatriots who recently got their big musical breaks were doing it all by themselves and can be just as good or even better than their predecessors.

“Skeng, 450 and Silk Boss and me and Yaksta, Dane Ray, Nation Boss. Bredda, dem man deh a powerful yute. Yuh nuh haffi question dat. Da question deh nuh haffi ask…dem man deh a guh teck music to a way different level. Dem just need exposure bredda,” he emphasized.

He then went on to criticize the neglect of some of the nation’s superstars in the business, citing that they have failed to help the younger artistes develop their craft and progress in their musical careers.

“Suh yuh si Shabba Ranks dem bredda, an di wul a dem name deh weh yuh fi call, fi gi di dem man deh collaboration fi guh expose dem to di world inna music form… dem man deh fraid fi gi di exposure!” he passionately stated.

“Bounty Killa, woulda gi mi a collaboration now. Dem man deh have di street bredda. Di res a dem weh yuh a talk bout weh live a farrin, yuh nuh need fi talk bout dem bredda. Talk bout we now!”

Jahshii and a slew of other young artistes such as Skeng and 450 have burst onto the scene this year and have captivated the Dancehall space with their own unique style.
