Double Olympic Sprint Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and reigning 200m World Champion Shericka Jackson will be among the headliners in team Jamaica’s delegation for the 2022 Commonwealth Game in Birmingham, England.

The games opens on Thursday, 28 July with the track and field events scheduled to will begin on August2

Newly minted World Champion Jackson, is expected to contest the 100 meters along-side rising star a 4x100m silver medalist Kemba Nelson.

Thompson-Herah’s participation however is shrouded in doubt after citing feelings of atigue following competition at the highest level despite not necessarily being at the best shape of her life.

The 100 meters World Champs bronze medalist who is still listed on the team , would be expected to line up in the 100m and 200m however her participation is expected to become clearer when track events runs off next week.

They will be joined by the likes of 110m Hurdles Olympic champion Hansel Parchment, World Championship triple jump Silver Medalist Shenika Rickets, Fredrick Dacres and Natoya Goule

Parchment who was denied an almost clear shot at the Gold in Oregon after sustaining a hamstring injury right before the finals during warm-up exercises, has shown that he’s fully recovered and ready to atone for that missed opportunity.

The Hurdles events will be among Jamaica’s strongly contested events with Olympic Bronze Medalist Megan Tapper and 2015 World Champ Daniel Williams in the 100m hurdles along with Jaheel hyde who is down to contest the 400 m of the event.

Kemar Baily-Cole and Nigel Ellis is set to line up for the 100 meters in Birmingham. Jamaica should  have a better chance at medaling in the sprints with the absence of USA and Italy who currently boasts the World and Olympic champions respectively.
