R&B singer Ashanti and rap star beau Nelly are proud parents of a bouncing baby boy- Kareem Kenkaide Haynes.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the music couple welcomed their newborn on July 18.

“His dad named him with a lot of pride,” Ashanti gushed while reflecting on Nelly’s reaction to being a new father.

It’s reported that their son’s middle name- Kenkaide was a tribute to her father’s name, with Kareem meaning generous, kind and dignified compelling the couple in their choice of first names.

The “Foolish” hitmaker shared that the delivery was made more special by having Nelly present during the process.

“Having all of us in the delivery room and seeing his face for the first time, I cried it was just so emotional and spiritual at the same time,” Ashanti recalled. “Having a vision of this moment for so long…it was such an electrifying feeling.”

Ashanti also gave a playful insight into “mom life” so far including sharing a post of herself four weeks postpartum with a humorous caption- “Funny how life’s plans aren’t…..always on time..lol.“
