All three Jamaican men 400m hurdlers safely progressed to the semi-finals after contrasting performances in their respective heats at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games a short while ago.

Jaheel Hyde, as expected, was the fastest Jamaican to advance, as he clocked a comfortable 48.54s to win heat two.

Hyde, who has a personal best of 48.18s, went out fast from lane four and quickly covered the field at the 200m mark and later came off the curve with a commanding lead, before gradually easing up off the final hurdle.

Kemar Mowatt booked his semi-final spot by placing fourth in heat one in 49.06s, as the top four finishers from each heat are guaranteed safe passage.

Meanwhile, Shawn Rowe, also running from lane four in the fourth heat left the blocks well and made up the stagger to come off the curve in second but was later relegated to third in a season’s best 49.18s.
