In a male-dominated industry, Marcia Griffiths stands tall as the Queen of Reggae with 60 years ‘in the bag’ as a trailblazing reggae vocalist, songwriter and performer, inspiring many women and some men at all levels.

Griffiths has an impactful career, which started in 1964 and saw her working with some of the greatest of all time, including Clement “Coxsone” Dodd, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, Bob Any, Toots and the Maytals. She also spent several years as a member of the I-Threes — which consists of Judy Mowatt and Rita Marley

Since then, she has used her global image and work to pave the way for many.

The 75-year-old Griffiths is a reggae icon whose career highlights include numerous solo records, over 50 collaborations, and more.

In an interview with SLEEK Entertainment, she shared the biggest highlight of her career.

Several women in Reggae and many in the dancehall arena have credited Marcia as an inspiration, some classifying her as the “mother”, “the queen of Jamaican music”, and “the aunt” they never had.

Marcia also expressed just how thankful she is for the support she continues to receive from fans all over the world.

She has had several hits such as ‘All My Life’, ‘Electric Boogie’, ‘Love is Automatic’, ‘Dreamland’, ‘A Beer and Girl’ and ‘I Shall Sing’.
