Haiti struggles with floods – over 40 dead

Authorities in Haiti have confirmed that the death toll from the heavy floods over the weekend has risen to 42.

Additionally, another 11 people, have been reported missing.

According to Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency, at least 85 people are injured, and more than 13,600 homes were flooded, forcing many to evacuate.

It says rains pelted Haiti’s western, northwestern, southeastern, and central regions, damaging many crops.

Meanwhile, the World Food Program said tens of thousands of people have been affected, with the greatest damage reported in Port-au-Prince’s metropolitan area and Haiti’s western region.
