“Messi, we’re waiting for you” was the chilling message reportedly left by gunmen in Argentina after shooting up a supermarket owned by his in-laws on Thursday according to reports from Rosario, Argentina.
It’s reported that the Unico supermarket, located in the city of Rosario which is owned by the family of his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, was subject to an early morning attack by gunmen.
Two assailants on a motorcycle fired at least a dozen shots into a Unico branch in the early hours of the morning, the Associated Press (AP) reports.

No injuries were reported following the incident however, a chilling message addressed to the country’s iconic football figure was a major cause for concern by authorities.
The note written on a cardboard read, “Messi, we’re waiting for you. Javkin is also a drug trafficker, so he won’t take care of you.”
Neither Messi nor his family has publicly commented on the matter.
However, Javkin, a center-left politician in opposition to the ruling Peronist coalition, who was targeted in the message lashed out at both criminal gangs and federal security officials.
“Where are the ones who need to take care of us?” Javkin said during a local radio interview following the attack.
“It’s clear that those who have the weapons and have the possibility of investigating the criminals aren’t doing it, and it’s very easy for any gang to carry out something like this.”
While it remains unclear as to the motive behind the attack, reports assert that local police are theorizing that the incident is more to “get attention than an actual threat”.
The incident comes at a very peculiar time for World Champion after being voted as the best footballer for 2022 in addition to being named in their upcoming friendly later this month.
