The 64th Grammy Awards ceremony has officially been rescheduled and will now be held on April 3, at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada.
The new date and venue were announced by organisers, Recording Academy, via their website and shared on their social media accounts.
The news comes almost one month after its initial announced postponement from its original January 31 airing, due to concerns of increased COVID cases in the US.
Comedian Trevor Noah will return as host for the April 3 event. The 2022 Grammys were forced to switch venues, losing their Crypto.com Stadium booking due to the postponement.
It will be welcomed news for the reggae and dancehall acts who have been nominated in the respective categories, including the Best Reggae album section, which fields a competitive group of nominees this year.
The category will see two first-time nominees in ‘Queen of Stage’ Spice for her ‘10’ album and the ‘small axe’ himself, Jesse Royal, for his Royal project.
Etana, makes a return to the category for her PAMOJA album, alongside Gramps Morgan’s Positive Vibration.
They will go up against American Reggae band Sojah and former winner ‘Dutty Paul’ himself, Sean Paul, with his Live and Living Album.
Dancehall’s ‘trending gyal’ Shenseea, will also be watching with interest, copping nods for collaborative works across four categories. These include Album and Best Rap Album of the year for work on Kanye West’s DONDA, Best Progressive R&B album with Masego’s Studying Abroad: Extended Stay, and Best Dance Electronic Music album for her contribution to Major Lazer’s: Music is the Weapon project.
