Sleek Media can confirm that the Government is not planning to place a ban on Valiant’s 2023 hit single ‘Mad Out’.
This comes after several blog pages have been circulating news that the Government will be placing a ban on the popular song “Mad Out” However, our news team has been told that it is simply FAKE news.
Information Minister Robert Morgan in an exclusive statement to SLEEK said “The government hasn’t had any discussion or plans to ban any song.”
He explained that, “The only entity that could guide radio stations and other media on content is The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica (BCJ) which is an independent regulator and we have not been made aware of any such plans by them.”
SLEEK media also contacted Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission, Cordell Green who also said the news was FAKE and explained how misinformed many now are and said “I think this is a cheap promotional stunt. BCJ is a regulator, we do not ever signal an intent“.
Mr. Green added, “Personally, I have never even heard of this song.” He also noted that the creator/writer of the social statement that the government is planning to ban the song “might be deliberately trying a ‘self-fulling prophecy’.”
For the commission, such a matter is not on the books.
Additionally, the island’s leading psychiatric hospital, Bellevue, earlier this year used the song as part of a promotional/campaign tool where they invited the artiste (Valiant) to discuss several matters.
According to the “Mad Out” deejay, when he recorded the single, he knew it would spark much-needed conversation about mental health in Jamaica.
Back in August, the song was the number one trending dancehall song on YouTube and has amassed over seven million views in only two months.
