An unforgettable experience it was for hundreds of reggae lovers who turned up at the Police Officers Club for the 3rd staging of the Essence of Reggae Music Festival 2024 as Reggae Month festivities commenced on the weekend.

Decked out in red, green, and gold the venue was transformed to embrace reggae music – from the Reggae Month red carpet, the bars, the sky boxes and relaxing environment.

While the show got off to a late start, the DJs, especially DJ Kurt Riley, kept the reggae vibration flowing – keeping patrons entertained as some shopped in the artisan/food villages and refreshed themselves with several mixes of Wray and Nephew.

The Frankie Music produced festival delivered a show of quality and class as it had an outstanding lineup of artistes who delivered top-notch performances, however, it was Sizzla who took the show for many reggae lovers.

From start to finish, his performance was filled with energy and punches of knowledge for both women and men. He encouraged the women to take care of themselves and dress appropriately.

Sizzla then warned the men to love and care for the woman properly.

He also urged the Government of Jamaica to do better for the health sector as it relates to equipment. In particular, he noted that the University of Technology should be manufacturing tables, computers, and health equipment that can assist the health and wellness sector.

Queen Ifrica for many was entertaining and energetic, singing several of her hits, and even lyrically playing around as she encouraged the patrons to love Reggae music and support it even more.

Jahshii was the other crowd favourite as for most of his set he did several reggae covers and even invited his friend Jahmiel onto the stage.

Other performances came from Richie Spice, Laalee, Mackeehan, Singer J, and Kuzikk.

SLEEK spoke with a few patrons who gave their views on the show.

Unfortunately, both Bugle and I-Octane who were slated to take the stage were not able to do so as the police discontinued the festival at 2:30 am.

Nonetheless, promoter, Avery Campbell (daughter of Frankie Music) is looking forward to 2025.
