As the track world eagerly anticipates witnessing a possible world record run in the women’s 200 metres, fans also look set to be treated to an exciting precursor when Shericka Jackson, Elaine Thomspon-Herah, and Sha’Carri Richardson line up in the 100 metres in the Eugene Diamond League on Saturday.

The showdown is among the several closely followed events set for Eugene, which will be the climax of the Diamond League season.

The race will not only test the ever-improving speed of Olympic Champion Thompson-Herah but will also provide a strong gauge on Jackson’s form ahead of her 200-metre run later in the day.

It’s also set to be rematch between Richardson and Jackson, who captured their respective sprint titles in the World Championship finals in Budapest last month. Given the competitive rivalry between the two and Thompson-Herah’s impressive surge in form, it should provide an excellent curtain closer to an exciting season.

Fellow Jamaican Natasha Morrison, former World Champion Dina Asher-Smith of the UK, and Diamond League leader Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Côte d’Ivoire are also set to provide quality competition on race day.
