In one of the most puzzling medical anomalies, in recent times, a Tanzanian man left doctors stunned following the discovery of a knife that’s believed to have lodged in his chest for the past eight years.

According to reports, the unusual discovery was made during examinations after the man, whose identity was kept anonymous, sought medical attention after noticing his left nipple was leaking pus-like fluid, as per the case study.

While no chest or other discomfort was noted in the reports, the blade of a knife was found inside the man’s chest cavity following an X Ray, much to the astonishment of both man and medical professionals.

The case would later take a more bizarre turn after it was revealed that a lethal external object may have spent the better part of a decade inside the man, who remained oblivious to its presence, after he shared an instance of being attacked by a knife during a severe altercation eight years prior, while speaking to doctors.

According to the reports, the patient was “involved in a violent altercation” during which he sustained “multiple cuts to his face, back, chest and abdomen.” It also stated that he had not received an X-ray or other scans as part of his treatment, as he was only given basic first aid following the ordeal due to the limited resources in his area.

Doctors performed surgery immediately to remove the blade, after which the man recovered well enough for discharge after ten days.

The case noted that the patient miraculously escaped severe harm, as his body was able to “encapsulate the foreign body within a fibrous capsule, limiting inflammation and tissue damage.” However, as the excretion of pus from his nipple showed, he was beginning to exhibit “serious complications.”
